Description of SUE Positions up for Election

March 10, 2017

The school year is coming to an end, which means it is time for the 2016/2017 SUE executive to rotate out to leave room for new ideas from eager students. The following are general descriptions of the responsibilities of each position up for election in the coming weeks. You can also see who was in the role for the past year. If you want more of an idea of what day-to-day responsibilities are, feel free to contact us at societyofundergradsineconomics@gmail.com.

If you are an enthusiastic students with a passion for serving your peers, creative ideas for how to make the U of C Econ experience better, and strong time management and leadership skills, then I encourage you to think about running for a VP role. You do not need tons of experience, you just need a willingness to learn quickly in a new role and work hard in a tight-knit team.

If you are interested in being the Executive VP, a Director (which is a lower level of responsibility but is meant to support a particular VP) or in the VP External/FASA Econ rep position, those roles are all hired after the SUE election is complete. If you run for a VP position in this election and do not get the role, we strongly encourage you to apply for one of the hired roles mentioned above.

In order to run, you just have to fill out the following google doc by March 17th at 4:00pm: https://goo.gl/forms/FMv9D0wg6159uTqm2

Your submission must include a basic platform. What should be in your platform?: Why you think you make a good fit for the position and what you plan to do in the role.

As you think about running I encourage you to approach running the way you will have to approach the role: be creative, be driven, and above all, be brave. Good luck to you all!
