Bank of Canada Governor's Challenge

September 26, 2017

Hello Senior Economics Students,

My name is Craig Styles Larson and I am the Executive Vice President of the Society of Undergraduates in Economics (SUE).  This year, I am working with Dr. Apostolos Serletis, SUE, the Dept of Economics and Dept of Finance to form a University of Calgary team to compete nation-wide in the Bank of Canada's Governor's Challenge.

The website is as follows:

This challenge is a fun and rewarding experience that simulates an advisory council of monetary policy to the Bank of Canada.  The university's team will analyse and forecast economic events and raw data, and then produce a presentation for the Bank's panel of judges.  Should we work hard enough to get past the first round, we get an all expenses paid trip to Ottawa to meet the Governor and compete for top position.

We need the top people in Economics, preferably with Econ 341 and 541, and the top people in Finance years 3 and up.  Should you feel that you are up to the challenge, and are committed to success, email me at

The deadline is Wednesday, Sept 27, 2017.  We are sorry for the rush but our team needs to get moving.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
