UofT Mississauga Department of Economics Brain Drain Case Competition

If you haven't heard already, the University of Toronto Mississauga Department of Economics is launching a nationwide case conference on the topic of "Brain Drain" for their Annual Case Competition this year. The case competition aims to inspire students to investigate the impacts of brain drain on both the host and origin country; leveraging critical analysis skills to try and determine causal effects. Students will draw up potential policies that attenuate the economic effects of brain drain where each team would put themselves in the shoes of policymakers - how can each country capitalize from the natural movement of high-skilled workers? How would the government balance the potential rift between existing workers and new workers? This competition will be divided into three separate stages with individual submission dates on March 4th and 17th. Then the finale will take place on March 18th. In addition, UofT has prepared monetary prizes for first, second, and third place at $1500, $700, and $350 respectively. Whether or not you have a team of 3-5 people, you are still able to sign-up as a solo participant or with a partner. Just keep in mind you will not be able to choose the pair of countries you would like to research for this case competition. Still need more information? Check out their website here: https://www.uecutm.ca/conferences The deadline to register is Thursday, February 24th, so register as soon as possible!
